Date Milk

Date milk is a sweet, warming and strengthening drink that soothes the nervous system and boosts iron.  It is excellent for “Fall Type” people, (see thebookoftaste@blogspot.com for a description of the “Vata” constitution).

Children typically love the sweet taste and frothy texture of date milk.  You can prepare it for them in the morning to nourish them and give them an energy boost to start the day.

It is simple to prepare and may just become your favourite latte!

Ingredients:

(serves 1)

1 cup whole milk or almond milk, warmed on stove

2 dates, pitted and soaked overnight

2 pinches cinnamon

1 pinch cardamom

1 pinch ginger

To Prepare:

  1. Remove the seed from the dates.
  2. Warm the milk.
  3. Add the dates and spices and puree in a blender.
  4. You can add a tsp of ghee, for a more restorative drink

Serve, Sip and Savour…it’s delicious!
